Book Description:
A
SERVANT blackmailed into becoming a princess’s decoy.
A
BODYGUARD determined to keep her alive.
A
PRINCE forced to execute his father’s brutal laws.
A
PRISONER used to keep him compliant.
A
WORLD on the brink of war.
In
one horrible night, Clare goes from kitchen maid to royal decoy. She
has three months to become the princess's perfect double so she can
ensure her betrothal to an enemy prince. Desperate to survive, Clare
throws herself into self-defense training, taught by her
distractingly attractive bodyguard. The danger increases when a
ruthless assassin begins stalking her, intent on ending the tenuous
peace.
Across
the northern mountains, Prince Grayson is his father’s ultimate
weapon. He carries out the king’s harsh orders because the one
person he cares about is his father’s prisoner. Grayson's silent
obedience is tested when his father plans to exploit the marriage
alliance between two of their greatest enemies. If Grayson submits,
the blood of thousands will spill. If he resists, the girl who means
everything to him will die.
The
fate of Eyrinthia hangs in the balance. Some want peace. Some want
war. All will be thrown into chaos.
Rorie's Review:
Five stars! This was a can't put it down, don't want it to end, when will the next book come out kind of a story. I fell in love with so many of the characters, and really want their stories to have a happily ever after. I honestly don't know if that will happen, but I'm rooting for it. Every time I read a story like this I'm reminded just how much I enjoy this genre...it's not a straight up romance by any means, but I can't think of what the genre is right now. At any rate, I think it's my favorite. I definitely recommend this story and can't wait for the next book to come out.
Tarah's Review:
I have a major problem with this story, and the major problem is that the series isn't done yet, and so now I have to wait for the rest of it to come out before I can feel fully satisfied! Argh. How long will that take?!? There's a reason I generally wait for a series to be finished before I start it. I can't binge read something that hasn't been written yet. Sadness.
No, seriously. This Young Adult Fantasy Romance really hit the spot for me. I was pulling for characters, I was anxious for others. I was surprised by different things, and in general I was completely taken in by this story, and I can't wait for the next book to come out and the two main characters to meet.
Andrea's Review:
Royal Decoy was a very enjoyable, fast read. There were a lot of characters, and I'll admit to getting confused a few times figuring out who was who, but that didn't take away from my overall enjoyment.
The main characters were great, especially Grayson. I felt so bad for him with the horrible family he came from. I can't imagine being raised in something so awful.
The story was entertaining and fast paced. I went into it not realizing that it was the first book in a series, so I didn't get the type of closure I wanted, but I am looking forward to book two to see what happens to everyone.
