Rorie's Review:

We just received this book, so haven't had time to do more than skim through the pages so far, but it looks like it'll be fun to use. My second son really enjoys drawing, so I got this with him in mind, but my younger two have expressed some interest in using it as well.

I must admit, I wasn't expecting the art to be as...cartoony...as it is. It's still cute and looks fun to draw, but it wasn't quite what I was expecting. I do like that the author gives several tips on how to draw basics, such as hands, faces, etc. I'm definitely no artist - I can barely draw a passable stick figure - but I might even give it a try.

Andrea's Review:

Both of my children like drawing, so when I heard about this book I thought they might enjoy it. Sadly it wasn't a good fit for my 15-year-old and 12-year-old. Thankfully I have some wonderful neighbors with several kids (most younger than my kids) and they were happy to give it a try.

The three-year-old boy liked the pictures. The six-year-old girl and nine-year-old girl liked how it looked but thought the drawing was too hard. There are some activities in the book, and they enjoyed the word search.

It turned out to be a really good fit for the 11-year-old boy. He thought it was really fun and liked it a lot. His favorite activities were drawing himself sneaking past the sleeping Lamanites and staying on the straight and narrow path. He like how it told the stories-it made them more fun and easier to understand. He said he learned that Samuel the Lamanite wasn't seen again after preaching on the wall.

While not for everyone, it is a big hit with the right kids.

Tarah's Review:

My three older kids have all looked through this book, but there must be something super intimidating about actually drawing, because only one of them actually tried anything they saw. No, I take that back. One of my younger ones actually had a lot of fun drawing a fly, and something else, and I was actually pretty impressed with how her picture turned out.

It wasn't quite what I was thinking a "how to draw" book would be, but I liked the stories that came with it, and the different activities. The rules at the beginning of the book I didn't really agree with, but I'm not an artist, so what do I know about drawing with pen and not erasing things? I didn't super love the drawing of the greek looking statues. Pretty sure those statues are naked. Not that the drawings in the book have any details that you could actually see, but they were not my favorite things in the book. Here is my 10 year olds review of it.

"It looks fun. I liked how it showed you how to draw things in the beginning, and the rules were very funny. I didn't do the no erasing, but I did do the no crossing out and no crumpling the paper. I also liked how it showed you all the different ways you can draw things, and the instructions on how to do it. I tried to draw Samuel the Lamanite on the wall, and the gems. The Samuel the Lamanite turned out well."
